Dog Coat 4

Because I can not make a coat for one dog and the other not get jealous, here is another coat from the same sweater. This dog knows how to do the "I'm so sad" look very well!

 Waiting not so patiently for her coat to be made! I had to tell her twice she could not sit on the work bench.

 This is the pieces to her coat she is keeping an eye on.

 I didn't have enough for the arms or waist so I used the lining from the hood of the sweat shirt. Buttercup looks better without sleeves.

Dog Coat 3

 My little low rider dog decided to get her other coat muddy, so I quickly made up another so she could have a spare to wear after her bath.

 Clean fur, fresh coat, snuggle blanket, perfect!

  I used another one of my boys sweat shirts that they had outgrown.

She's a real model.

  I added another two inches to my pattern to cover more of her torso. This one had a big pocket on the front.

  I picked out the pocket so my pup wouldn't think she needed to fill her pockets with sticks, she loves her sticks!

Buttercup

 I caved and made Dog Sweaters! 

I, up until now thought "pets don't need any clothing what so ever", "why would you put your poor pooch through that"! Well, I was wrong! We have had a COLD start to Fall and my little pups are suffering.

 While sorting through clothes for Goodwill I came across a sweat shirt that both of my sons have out grown. I thought if I make them and they don't like to wear them then it wont be like I had wasted any money.

Taffy

 To my surprise both dogs loved having them on and did not want them removed once they went out for a potty and came back in.

Both of them were made from a sized 5T Seattle Sea Hawks Sweat Shirt. Taffy's was made from the sleeves, Butter's it the torso.

Prairie Picnic Dress

The Kindergarten class that I work in had a Prairie Picnic last week where everyone got to wear something prairie inspired. I arose to the occasion and made myself a Prairie Dress and apron to wear.

I think I could wear this every day it is so comfy.

  Dress is a variation of Burda Style 1/2013 blouse #117 extended to ankle length.

 Without the apron the dress looks just like a Moo-moo. I liked this pattern before I made it a dress but now I don't think it would look right on me as a top.

Apron is self drafted.

 I was running out of time and did not want to make fabric ties on apron so I used ribbon instead. I love the result it gave me using ribbon.

I added a gypsy skirt I made Sierra under the dress so it would have a little more volume on bottom.

Grim Reaper and His Pal Skeleton

Its a few days late, but here are my boys in the costumes they wanted me to make them.

 Sir Grim is my son Daniel and Mr. Skeleton is Christopher

 Oddly enough this robe was really easy to make it only took me one hour to make (drafting all the way to last stitch)

 The skeleton I spent several hours hand stitching bones onto a store bought sweat suit.

 It is possible to sneak up on death!

 Christopher hates face paint so I made him a mask.

I did purchase sickle, mask and gloves for this costume the lantern we already owned.

I tied extra fabric to a camping lantern for Grim to carry to light his and Skeletons way. Yes, it was killing them to have to pose together.

Taffy's "Re Purposed" Dogie T-Shirt

Okay, this post is about my 9 month old dachshund and her up coming need for clothes. Taffy loves to be outdoors but in the winter when it is below freezing she needs some extra warmth.  I searched for hours the other day to no avail for a dog shirt pattern online. All I came up with was people doing crummy how to's about putting theirs together but did not give the pattern they were using or cruddy YouTube videos on the patterns they wanted you to buy.

 I decided to just draft her her own pattern for a shirt, hay it's what I do for any thing else, right? This is my first attempt at making Miss Thing her very own dogie shirt, not bad for my first try! I used one of my old shirts that I was not going to ever wear again to practice on since I did not want to mess up any nice fabric.

 Since she is a dachshund her shirt is longer in the torso than most shirts found in stores and it has a tiny waist too. She loved the extra attention I gave her and did not want me to take her shirt off.

 My next attempt at a pattern it will be one with higher arms holes, I guess they are called "muscle shirts", I don't know.

The chest stays the same on the pattern but the belly is adjustable. Taffy has a chest of 17" but her tummy is 11". The pattern goes up to a 17" belly for those of you using the pattern for a dog with out a figure. Enjoy!

Sweetie Pie Dress

 This is what I have been working on the "Sweetie Pie Dress", I usually do boy stuff, but this time I wanted to do something girlie. What's even better is I have 11 year old twin nieces that are perfect models for the girlie stuff, and they are gymnasts so that means they can model the tiny sizes.

The Sweetie Pie Pattern is roughly a size 6x - 8. It can be made with or with out a ruffle, I liked the idea of a ruffle so thats what I made. If you have a tall girl or like your girls to have long dresses leangth can be added to the hem line. My wonderful model has shorts on with the dress, it was real windy when we did the pictures.

Sneek A Peek At Sweetie Pie

I have been real busy since I got my long arm cast off and decided that I needed to post something GOOD, like a pattern to something never seen before on my site. The only thing that I could think of was this cute little dress that I saw a few months back in a old picture. My 5 year old asked to name it when I was drafting the pattern. I said yes, told him what it would look like and Sweetie Pie  is what he came up with, I think it fits. I will be posting more about it later.

Then He Sailed Away

 As promised here it is my kids "Nautical Pants Pattern" also known as my "Sailor Pants Pattern" and its now Free for you to use! This is the EXACT pattern I used to make my Sailor Pants and my Virginia Pants it was also the one I used to do my tutorial for drafting your own Sailor Pants/Shorts pattern with.

These pants are suitable for both boys and girls. I have done denim for boys and corduroy for girls it will work well with most types of fabric. 

 My son loves them, and wants me to make him some in other colors.

Eyeeeeee is for Buccaneer Eye Patch

ARRRRRR, Matey, I think yee needs to walk the plank!

You can either make it out of paper and slit the bottom to 
form it's shape or make it out of fabric and leave it as is. 
It works great both ways.

We made Christopher's Buccaneer Eye Patch out of a 
scrap piece of fabric.
