I have a child (Christopher) with sever asthma, its not fun for him or me, but we try to make it better by making or re-purposing holders for his inhalers. So, if it can cheer up my wheezy kid it might do the same for one you know with asthma too. It is very important to carry something even if you are having a good or in the green day.

You can use/re-purpose:

old Mace case,

small knife pouch (these have handy belt clips),

flash light holders (most of these have carabiners),

old cell phone case

 Make one!

I went to EIBactive to fill out a survey and he got this pouch in about 6 days FREE. Its the one he currently carries with him because it is soft and bright so every one knows he's packin. He attached to a lanyard so he can wear it around his neck.

Usually if he is going somewhere without me, I add a medical info card to his pouch so if anyone has to help him they will see his asthma plan. This site that has a Complete FREE Medical Record ID Wallet Card, its what we use to print Christopher's. I do this every other month so it stays up to date.

Tie Dye with Sharpies

This was a first for me, Tie Dyeing with Sharpies, never had I heard of it until seeing this post. It looks like a whole lot easier than having buckets of dye to dip rubber banded t-shirts into. Also far less messy and more control than the other way.

Are those just awesome or what? Oh, the things I could do this on, endless! The only thing I see that could effect this would be if it got wet but if you did this on something out of the way of moisture it shouldn't matter.

Re-puposing Boys Pants

Pants don't come cheap and if there is a way to ease the pain in my wallet by not having to spend extra money to replace them, I'm all for it. I have done all of these in the past just to keep my sons and husbands work pants in the rotation. I would have done a "how to" on these but there are other moms that beat me to it and hey why go and post something that is already explained well on these moms sites.

 Above and below are both from Tonya Staab's site. Top she has patched the holes with fabric and below she has added fabric cuffs. I have done both of these on the pants of all the men in my house little and big.

This one is from Kandeeland and it is the most easiest one there is to make shant/jorts/corts...... or any other name for pant shorts. It is also the one we use most often at my house with my youngest. He does not put holes in his knees, his pants get converted because he has long legs and pants look like high waters on him.

Painting Curtains

I have noticed a trend happening with curtains and it is to paint them, not just any color but more often they are....BLUE! I have found two good examples of how to transform a curtain with paint.

 This Patterned curtain is done using stencils and left over latex paint to match the current wall colors.

On this over sized curtain they did Ombre Stripes using masking tape and paint.

These got me to thinking of a post "DIY Screen Printing" by Whimsy love where she did printed t-shirts using embroidery hoops and mod podge. I would bet that her technique could work for curtains too, just a little more time consuming.

Faux Saddle Shoes

I have wanted saddle shoes for some time now but could never find them or if I did find some they were the wrong color or way too glitzy. Allison from Dream (a little) Bigger has a great how to on making your own saddle shoes from plain white canvas shoes. This is one How To that I will be trying in the near future.

She uses a preexisting Blah slip and shows how to make it cute by adding wide trim.

Simple Way: Adding Seam Allowance

Like others I love to make clothing from pattern catalogs but almost all of the time the patterns exclude the needed seam allowances. I found this cool trick a few months ago for adding the seam allowances by accident and forgot to post it for the rest of you.

Sense the distance between two pencil tips held side-by-side equals 1/4" and most all patterns need 1/4" this is perfect for adding the needed allowances.

Quick fix for a too small T-Shirt

Quick and easy way to hem jeans

I wanted a way of hemming my boys jeans without cutting any length off, they grow so quick that I usually just roll the pant legs but that don't always look so good. I remembered that on Love Stitched there is a post  How to hem jeans {{Tutorial}} that shows how to hem with out cutting anything and it can be undone and redone if needed.
