Autumn Anda Frock

This is what I came up with for my "Frock By Friday". 

I used a silk blend and left out all of the binding strips and just folded the edges over twice to finish up edges.

Frock by Friday "August"

I have decided to do this months Grosgrain  "A Frock by Friday".
The pattern used is BurdaStyle Anda. 

I am done with the frock so I will post  some photos later when I get Ashley to take some of me.

Well, Maybe Not

I intended to make a version of the Burda Style dress "Shari" that would better fit me! I love the changes I made to the pattern but the dress its self not so much. I think the color combo just does nothing for me. This dress has been sitting on my dummy for four weeks now and I could not get my husband to photograph me in it so it must be that bad!

Changes made:
I have dropped the back down,
Got rid of the zipper,
Narrowed the shoulders,
Did away with the sleeves,
Widened the arm holes

 

This is what my pieces looked like after altering the pattern. Lots of cutting and re-taping.

Slippers for Sierra

It was supposed to be a project that she would be able to do ALL of the sewing but in the end she asked me for help. She wanted the slippers to have binding strips all the way around them and it was a major pain to do so I had to help her with it. She did pick all of the fabric that was used and how she wanted it to look!

Coffee Date Dress

This is a pattern off of the BurdaStyle website.  A very talented member (elainemay) made it in her size and had such a great response she re-sized it for everyone else to use. Her original is also called the Coffee Date Dress.

This is the first time I have not had to take at least three inches out of the upper back of a garment to make it fit. She made this perfectly and oh do I LOVE the fit.

I have been waiting for so long to use this fabric. It belonged to my grandma and I just could not force myself to use it before now. I felt funny taking the tags off of it (fabric used to come with tags like clothing does now) to get it ready to use. I am very happy with the end result.

I have added lace tape to the hem on the bottom of the dress because the fabric is a heavier weight, it is  also contrasting like the stiching and zipper.

Spring Dress

I have sewn maxi cording into the seams of the bodice

and wiast, it is a dark brown to make the browns in the

dress pop. These pictures don't do it any justice, for once

I think a creation that I have made looks better on me

than on the mannequin.

Kasia Skirt

I was really wanting to put 6 buttons on this
3 on either side of the gathering to make the skirt
look slight sailorish. I had put some on but they
did not look right, so there gone. I could not find
buttons to satisfy me.

I think that if I find some bottons I will put
them on and repost.

Well Our town has a LARGE selection at Alcos on zippers and
such that I found a BLACK 7" instead of a NAVY 9".
Thats OK I like a good chalange

Dark Brown Corduroy Skirt

A variation on the BurdaStyle Sidona 1 I skipped on the lining and botton that the Sidona called for. The corduroy was thick enough to not have any lining plus soft on the skin on the inside. As for the button I don't like buttons in the back. I don't know if I could even button something on my backside.

School Girl Dress

BurdaStyle Celeste
